Denmark Startup Visa: expert-panel review and the two-year route

The complete Startup Denmark guide: expert-panel idea assessment, the two-year renewable permit, costs and the advantages of the Copenhagen ecosystem.

How Startup Denmark works

Denmark uses a two-stage process: first your idea is assessed by an expert panel specialised in your business sector (through the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration, known as SIRI). If approved, you may apply for a two-year renewable residence permit.

What the panel measures

  • Innovation and growth potential in the market
  • The team's ability to execute (track record, skills, cohesion)
  • The business's relevance to the Danish or Scandinavian market

Three independent evaluators score your plan across these areas, and approval requires an average of at least 3.5 out of 5.

Denmark's hidden advantage

Less competition than the Netherlands, an organised society, flawless digital infrastructure and access to the whole Nordic market; an unmatched destination for B2B startups.

Costs and timing

The panel assessment is free but takes time; the residence application carries a separate fee. Realistic planning is what separates approval from rejection.
